1,030,107. Lids for hollow-ware. E. RAYSON. April 13, 1965 [April 22, 1964], No. 16583/64. Heading A4A. A lid, particularly for a vessel containing a hot liquid e.g. a teapot or kettle, comprises flanged outer and inner members 3 secured together by a screw 5 which enters a threaded bore in a finger knob 7, a circular spring wire member 10, having deformations 11, being constrained within the flange 4 so that the deformations pass through apertures in the flange to engage the mouth of the vessel. A heat-resistant washer 8 and steam apertures 12, 13 are provided and in a modification the inner member of the lid is dispensed with and the flange of the outer member is apertured for passage of the deformations 11. The spring member may be star-shaped or housed in a peripheral groove in the flange and the lid may be hinged to the vessel.
