693,772. Whistling ketttes. BEST PRODUCTS, Ltd., and BEST, F. L. Nov. 9, 1950, No. 27458/50. Class 66. A cap 12 of a whistling kettle is held in the open or closed position by a C-spring 22 which also holds the hinge assembly in place, the cap 12 fitting closely over the spout 11 (through which the kettle is filled) and, when opened as by pressing upwardly a projection 15, snaps over to a fully open position at which it rests against the handle 37 of the kettle. The whistle comprises a disc with four slots 24, 26 &c. with a reed 28, 30 below each slot, and a dished washer 32; steam passing through the slots 24 &c. escaping through openings 35 &c. and being thereby directed away from the handle 37.
