A box-like article such as a cabinet has a movable member such as a door connected thereto by means of a hinge comprising a bracket 3, secured to the inner surface of a side wall 1 of the article without penetrating into the side wall and a pair of link arms 11, 12 pivotally connected by a first pair of corresponding ends to respective pivots 9, 10 on the bracket and pivotally connected by the other pair of corresponding ends to pivots 15, 16 on the movable member 2, the pivots 15, 16 being situated at the same side of the pivots 9, 10 as the wide wall 1 and the lengths of the link arms and the positions of the pivots being so arranged that as the member swings from its closed position abutting the article to its open position in line with the side wall no part of the member projects beyond the plane of the outer surface of the side wall. The bracket 3 which is U-shaped in cross-section and has tapering flanges 7 and a projecting end 6 is adjustably secured to the wall 1 by means of a plate carrying an adjusting screw. After assembly the fastening screws 4, 5 are slightly loosened and the adjusting screw 28 turned to square-up the member 2 relative to the article. The free ends 13, 14 of the link arms are mounted on pivots 15, 16 held by a cylindrical casing 17 secured in a corresponding circular aperture 18 in the member 2. Preferably the casing 17 is made of plastics and the link arms of metal. In a modification, Fig. 9 (not shown) the bracket and adjusting plate are supported on the wall 1 by means of an intermediate plate, a second movable member being hinged to the other side of the wall by a similar hinge and the two intermediate plates being secured to each other and the wall by screws passing through the wall. In a further modification, Fig. 36 (not shown) the bracket is also adjustable laterally on the adjusting plate.
