Abstract

1,023,807. Hydraulic motors. OILGEAR CO. March 4, 1964 [April 8, 1963], No. 9144/64. Heading F1A. In a radial cylinder hydraulic motor, the pistons 47 are fitted with bearing shoes, which bear upon a ported sleeve 40 on a crank-pin and through which the motive fluid passes. The ports in the sleeve 40 serve as cylinder ports and valve ports 26, 27 are formed in the periphery of the crank-pin. Liquid under pressure is supplied to the cylinders 51, 52 via a passage 33, port 27 and ports 41, 42 in the sleeve 40 and the exhaust liquid is similarly conveyed from cylinders 54, 55 to a passage 34. The crank-pin 12 is free to rotate within the sleeve 40 to which is fixed a guide rail 87 on a plate 23, Fig. 1 (not shown). The rail 87 is free to move horizontally in a slot in a member 89 which is free to move vertically along guide rail 88 fixed to the motor casing. Hence the sleeve 40 follows the crank rotation without itself rotating. The cylinders have part-spherical ends and pivot on pins 66, Fig. 3 (not shown) mounted about the centre of the part-sphere. The cylinders also have a small second rocking movement transverse to the first to ensure adequate seating of the piston on the shoe. In alternative embodiments, the high pressure liquid may be supplied to the passage 34 and the cylinders may rotate around a fixed crankshaft.
