1,022,490. Cotters; locking nuts. ELASTIC STOP NUT CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Oct. 10, 1963 [Nov. 9, 1962], No. 40069/63. Heading F2H. A split cotter pin, e.g. for locking a castellated nut on a bolt with a transverse bore, is partly covered with non-metallic material such as nylon or "Teflon" (Registered Trade Mark) to reduce vibration and wear. The legs 16, 18 may have a bow 22, Fig. 1 (not shown), and the head may be covered by material whose sides 36, Fig. 8 (not shown), are tapered. The material may be moulded on or stretched on as a tube.
