Abstract

1,021,113. Feeding webs. MOUNT HOPE MACHINERY Ltd. June 17, 1963, No. 24059/63. Heading B6B. A web of sheet material is expanded laterally by passing over a roller comprising a plurality of adjacent drums 2<SP>1</SP>, 211, 2<SP>111</SP> &c., Figs. 1 and 4, mounted on a curved shaft. Each drum is provided with a plurality of axially extending channel members 6. Each member 6 is provided at one end with side wall extensions 101 and at the other end with side wall extensions 10<SP>11</SP> having lateral flanges 14. One of the ends 10<SP>1</SP> of each member 6 is interlocked between the two flanges 14 of a member 6 on an adjacent spool, to avoid rubbing together of the ends of the members 6.
