Abstract

1,018,680. Road vehicle suspension. DES ANCIENS ETABLISSEMENTS ALBARET S.A. March 31, 1964 [April 19, 1963], No. 13116/64. Heading B7D. [Also in Division A1] A self-propelled compaction roller comprises a chassis which is supported by a plurality of pneumatic tyred wheels 3 which are positioned close to the centre of gravity of the machine, each wheel being mounted at one extremity of an oscillating arm 6 which is pivoted on the chassis about a horizontal transverse axis and which is controlled by an hydraulic jack 29. The roller is supported at each end by runners 10. The wheels are driven by hydraulic motors. The hydraulic jacks 29 are controlled by means of a valve to regulate the distribution of the load between the wheels 3 and the runners 10. The hydraulic circuit of the jacks includes an accumulator of the oleo-pneumatic type consisting of a steel pressure vessel having two chambers separated by a deformable diaphragm, one chamber containing gas under pressure and the other chamber the hydraulic liquid. In a modification two rows of wheels are provided close to the centre of gravity of the chassis.
