Abstract

1,016,097. Centrifugal pumps. SUMO PUMPS Ltd. Dec. 1, 1964 [Dec. 4, 1963], No. 47981/63. Heading F1C. A centrifugal pump stator component made of plastics material comprises a number of segmental parts, each with a vane, forming the stator guide channels, and a centre piece of truncated conical shape to which the segmental parts are fixed. Each stage of a multi-stage pump comprises a stator 6 divided into six separately moulded segments 9 which fit together within a casing 3, the latter being separated from the casing 3 of each adjoining stage by a ring 4 carrying a bearing bush 25. Each segment 9 comprises a wall 10, a vane 7 projecting inwardly from the wall, and a rib 12 projecting radially outwardly from the middle of the wall to abut the casing 3. An intermediate part 15 of each wall 10 is of cylindrical form to abut the casing 15, while the ends 13, 18 of the wall abut the adjacent rings 4. The vanes 7 may be cemented to a central frusto-conical member 27 carrying a bearing bush 30, while the segments 9 may be cemented together and to the casing 3. The outer casing 1, shaft 2 and the impellers 8 may be of metal, the other parts being moulded from synthetic plastics material such as polycarbonate, nylon or diallyl phthalate.
