Abstract

1,012,717. Jib cranes for ships. ATLAS-WERKE A.G. May 25, 1962 [May 26, 1961 June 21, 1961], No. 20298/62. Heading B8B. A loading device for ships comprises two booms 1, 2, Fig. 4, luffable by ropes 7, 8, slewable by rack-and-pinion gear 3, 4 and provided with boom head pulleys which turn in the direction of tension of the load ropes 11, 12. Each boom has a combined load and luffing winch 9a, 9b, Fig. 2, driven by a motor 9c with lifting controls 14a, 14b and a slewing control 14c. Slowing is effected by hydraulic rams 22, Fig. 1. The two booms may be interconnected by a link rod 39, Fig. 5, which may have a fixed length or be adjustable by means of a ram 40.
