Abstract
1,012,520. Continuous-casting machines; rolling. W. HUFNAGL, and A. SCHMID Dec. 31, 1962 [Dec. 29, 1961], No. 49133/62. Headings B3F and B3M. Steel rod is produced using a continuous casting process by feeding molten metal 1 from a mould 2 between rolls 3, driven or freely rotatable rolls 6 mounted in a rotatable tool head 5, and guide rolls 7 and 8. A number of heads may be provided in tandem and each head may contain 2, 3 or 6 rolls forming a pass. The rolls may be positioned at an angle to the axis of movement of the workpiece and may be heated or cooled or used in an inert atmosphere. A profiled or ribbed product may be obtained using suitable rolls, and rolls of successive heads may be driven at different speeds.
