A floor or roof structure comprises a rectangular plane sheet 6 (Fig. 8) with corrugations 1 transverse to one pair of opposite edges, separated by a distance which is less than their length, an uncorrugated border separating each end of each corrugation and the adjacent edge, the sheet 6 being supported along each edge together with an edge of another sheet member by a stiffening member which is perpendicular to the plane of the sheet 6. In a roof structure (which has upward corrugations), the edges of the sheet 6 are preferably bent through 90 degrees and bent back through 180 degrees to form a longitudinal channel 13 (Fig. 10) along two sides and similarly along one other side a wider channel 14 being formed along the fourth side (Fig. 6). The stiffening member (Fig. 8) has a web 2, a lower folded flange 3 and an upper flange 4, which may preferably have a groove-like form (Fig. 10) in a roof structure, the edge of a sheet 6 engageable therein being connected thereto by an adhesive 18. In the structure of Fig. 8 for a floor the sheets 6 are joined by welds 10. The structure members are preferably cold strengthened.
