Abstract

1461576 Longitudinally corrugated metal pipe J DE RYCK 9 April 1974 [9 April 1973 24 Aug 1973] 15677/74 Heading F2P A pipe comprises at least one corrugated metal sheet bent about the longitudinal axis of the pipe, the sheet or sheets having adjacent longitudinal edge regions 1, 2 (Fig. 1) joined together to form the pipe and the corrugations in the or each sheet extending longitudinally of the pipe and being trapezoidal or rectangular in transverse cross-section, said adjacent longitudinal edge regions 1, 2 each having a respective corrugation formed therein and the respective corrugations being disposed one within the other. The metal sheet can be up to 2À0 mm thick and preferably is between 0À4 and 1À2 mm. thick and the longitudinal edges 1, 2 may be joined by riveting or welding. Reinforcing rings or strips 3 may be incorporated and the ends of the pipe may be uncorrugated (as in Fig. 2) to facilitate joining pipe lengths together. In a further embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the pipe has a generally rectangular cross-section wherein said sheet or sheets are bent along four longitudinal lines located between respective pairs of adjacent corrugations.
