[Also in Division F2H] A nut 10, e.g. for clamping down an eyelet attached to an electrical conductor, has a portion 16 with flats for engagement by a spanner and a flange 18 with a part-spherical surface on which slides a complementary skirt 32 of a resilient washer 12 thereby captive on the nut flange. The base 24 of the washer is frusto-conical and is flattened when the nut 10 is tightened down but resiles to its former shape on loosening the nut. The washer does not turn with the nut during tightening, because of the base shape, and its hole 26 has a diameter larger than that of the major diameter of the nut thread. The washer may be casehardened. There may be an antifriction washer of synthetic resin, e.g. containing a solid lubricant, on the bottom face 22 of the nut or on the top face 40 of the washer 12.
