Abstract

1,011,206. Concrete mixers. PONTASILO Ltd. Sept. 24, 1964 [Sept. 27, 1963], No. 38182/63. Heading B1C. An annular pan type mixer has inner and outer side wall portions of arcuate form 15, 16 blending smoothly with the flat bottom 3, and at least one outer and one inner blade 10, 12 contacting the bottom and side and conforming in shape to the arcuate portions. There may be intermediate blades as at 11, 13 of similar shape ; all the blades are of at least Brinell hardness No. 450 to be harder than the concrete aggregate, are curved so that their leading edges make a more acute angle with the direction of rotation than their trailing edges, and pivot resiliently against springs 14; the shafts 60, 61 mounting blades 10, 12 are splined to provide blade adjustment radially of the pan. A U-shaped discharging blade 40 is normally maintained in a raised inoperative position by a spring 44 against which it can be lowered electrically, mechanically or by a hydraulic ram 42; it has two overlapping portions 45, 46 to provide width adjustment. A square bottom discharge aperture 24 is closed by a plate 25 caused to slide radially in slots 26, 27 by a hydraulic ram 30 or manually or mechanically; the mixer discharges into a pivoting shoot 50. The blades are rotated by a two-speed hydraulic motor 6 or by an electric motor or internal combustion engine. The container bottom and sides are lined with wear plates 17, 18.
