Abstract

1,010,481. Rotary-scythe mowers. H. C. WEBB & CO. Ltd. Feb. 1, 1963 [Feb. 1, 1962], No. 3829/62. Heading A1F. In a rotary-scythe mower the motor 8 and the rotary knife (Fig. 3, not shown) are bodily adjustable vertically relatively to the wheeled body 34 which shrouds the cutter. As shown the rotary knife is mounted on the lower end of the motor spindle 24. The motor-housing is secured to a sleeve 7 which is a sliding fit in a collar 12 integral with the body 34. The sleeve has helical slots 13 which are entered by bolts 14, 15 passing through the collar 12, the bolt 15 carrying a locking segment which can be tightened against the inner wall of the sleeve by rotation of a handle 22 on the outer end of the bolt. A handle 4 on the sleeve enables it to be rotated when the locking member is loosened. A fixed scale 33 indicates the cutting height.
