Abstract
1,010,128. Fusible cut-outs. LUCIEN FERRAZ & CIE. April 3, 1964 [April 5, 1963], No. 13919/64. Heading H2G. In a cartridge fuse the fusible elements 6 are embedded in a moulded mass of sodium silicate, which may contain a pulverulent silica filler. This mass may have an inner cavity 8 in which the elements 6 are exposed to an arc-quenching fluid such as sulphur hoxafluoride. The mass is moulded by the injection of aqueous sodium silicate into the outer insulating shell 4 of the cartridge (or a separate mould) followed by heating to remove the water, a wax core being used if the cavity 8 is required. End caps 2 are provided with contacts 1, and with bosses 5 to which are soldered the elements 6.
