Abstract
1,007,496. Transformers. ELECTRIC CONSTRUCTION CO. Ltd. Feb. 21, 1964 [Nov. 21, 1962], No. 44046/62. Heading H1T. [Also in Division H3] A power transformer comprises a tapped secondary winding in which a permanent connection is made from each of the tapping points A1, A2, A3 ... (Fig. 1), to the output by a pair of rectifiers A1F, A1R; A2F, A2R; A3F, A3R . . . respectively connected in inverse parallel, the tappings being controlled by a circuit (Fig. 3, not shown), which is adjusted to activate one selected pair of rectifiers in sequence at or following the current zeros in the secondary windings. Fig. 1 shows secondary windings A, B, C of a multiphase transformer in which a pair of thyristors is connected to each tapping point. The control circuit (Fig. 3, not shown), provides pulses to activate the control electrodes of a selected pair of thyristors in each winding (see Division H3).
