Abstract

Casings; impellers in parallel. -To facilitate assembling and inspection, the casing of a centrifugal pump having twin impellers working in parallel is divided horizontally into two portions, the lower portion, which contains the suction port g and the greater part of the suction chamber h, being made up of three pieces, one of which forms the outer wall b of the sub-axial portion of the suction chamber, while the other two form the walls of the sub-axial portions a of the two impeller chambers m, n, and the upper portion, which contains the discharge chamber and port q, being made up of two pieces, one of which includes the outer wall e of the discharge chamber, while the other portion includes the roof c of that portion of the suction chamber situated between the impellers. The casting c, which may be formed with ears f, is connected to the casting e by bolts u, v. The castings a, a are connected to the casting b by bolts s, and to each other by the threaded rod j. The castings b, e are connected by bolts or studs t.
