Abstract
1,004,552. Hot-water boilers; oil or solid fuel fired boilers. G. FUCHS. April 17, 1964 No. 16131/64. Headings F4A and F4W. An independently heated boiler comprises an annular water space 7 surrounding a ribbed flue space 5, the free ends of the ribs 18 having flanges 17 defining a control space 3 in communication at one end with the flue space 5 which is connected to a flue outlet 12 at the other end. A burner 1 is mounted to deliver into the central space 3 so that flames flow along it in countercurrent to the hot gases in the flue space 5. The end wall of a horizontal boiler, Fig. 1, is double and forms part of the water jacket. In a vertical boiler, Fig. 3 (not shown), the burner delivers downwardly and the bottom of the boiler is closed by a single plate spaced from the insulator base of the boiler. In another embodiment, Fig. 4, the central space and flue space open at the bottom into a firebox 31, having a grate 33 above an air regulator 35 and external ash box 36. Refuse can be burnt on the grate, or solid fuel burnt in place of using a burner mounted at the top. The burner 20 may be removable, and may be replaced by a charging hopper 38, Fig. 5 leading to the centrol space 37 which forms a further hopper for solid fuel, which burns in a space 40 communicating with the annular ribbed flue space surrounding the fuel column. The stove has a vertical front grate 41 behind a fire door 42.
