Abstract

1279149 Water boiler O BERGER 25 Aug 1969 42313/69 Heading F4A A water boiler comprises a fire-box 3, smoke tubes 6 fixed in a tube plate 5, and a water inlet 11 opening from above into a chamber 20 adjacent the point at which the heating gases enter the smoke tubes. The boiler is heated by an oil or gas burner 2, and combustion gases flow back from the rear wall (not shown) of the firebox to a deflection chamber 15 and through smoke tubes 6 to a flue-gas opening and chimney stack. The chamber 20 is divided from the main water-space of the boiler by a partition 19 and communicates with the main water-space through an opening 21 and through clearances between the partition and smoke tubes. In another embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown) the smoke tubes are provided through part of the cross-section of the water-space only.
