Abstract

A powder mixture for flame spraying comprises 5-50% by weight of metal powder coated with a metal with which it exothermically reacts at flame-spraying temperatures to form an intermetallic compound (see Specification 1,000,353) the balance being a conventional spray-weldable self fluxing metal powder (see U.S.A. Specifications 2,936,229 and 2,875,043 for instance). 10-75% by weight of the total mixture of refractory carbide particles may also be added.
