Abstract
A coating composition for direct application by a flame plating process comprises, by weight, 75% chromium carbide, 20% nickel and 5% chromium. The composition, in the form of a powder of -325 mesh size, may be applied by means of a detonation process, or an arc torch, or a jet burner. It is stated that the coatings have high wear resistance and resistance to oxidation. Specifications 706,099, 742,387, 742,458 and U.S.A. Specification 2,861,900 also are referred to.
