Abstract
An iron-nickel alloy suitable for depositing on cast iron or steel substrates comprises:- .C.1-3% .Ni.25-60% .B.0.5-2.0% .Si.0-3.0% .Mn.0-1.0% the balance being iron. The alloy may be applied to the substrate by tungsten inert gas welding, carbon arc welding or oxyacetylene welding when it is in the form of a rod or by flame spraying when in the form of a powder which may be heterogenous or homogenous formed by atomizing a melt of the alloy.
