Abstract

1,001,072. Rotary pumps. TYDEMAN MACHINE WORKS Inc. May 15, 1962 [June 2, 1961], No. 18633/62. Heading F1F. [Also in Division F2] An air-cooled hydraulic pump and driving motor, includes a reservoir 12, Fig. 1, having a cover 14 supporting a gear pump 16 and an electric motor 20 driving the pump and a cooling fan 22. The pump 16 which is immersed in the liquid in the reservoir so that its intake 50 is below the liquid level delivers through a line 46 to a branch 124 connected to operated apparatus and up to a pressure-relief valve 158 which opens to by-pass excess liquid through a line 130 into a radiator chamber 108 around which cooling air is circulated by the fan 22. When the level of liquid in the chamber 108 reaches the top of an overflow pipe 48, Fig. 2, excess liquid returns to the reservoir 12. Cooling air from the fan also passes through a ring of ports 107 into the motor housing to cool the motor parts and also as secondary cooling for the inner wall of the chamber 108. Liquid from the operated apparatus is returned to the reservoir through a line 34. The reservoir is filled through a line 40 and fitted with a thermometer 38.
