The invention relates to a device for closing off a chimney flue. The field of the invention is that of devices for closing a chimney flue mounted in or on the stump of a chimney. Typically, in a house or other building with a chimney, the fireplace is connected to a flue that is open at its upper end to the outside. Thus, in use, the flue gases are evacuated outside the house or building. However, when the chimney is not in use, the fireplace opening and the chimney flue create air suction and allow heat to escape from the building. Most chimneys have a shutter, at the lower end of the chimney, above the chimney drain. The shutter is closed when the chimney is not in use, thus avoiding the evacuation of the air from the inside towards the outside, by the chimney. However, the interior surfaces of the chimney above the flap are directly affected by the external environment, degrading the energy performance of the building, the chimney constituting a thermal bridge. Also known from the state of the art a shutter system for obstructing the upper end of the chimney, for example from US 4,368,663. There are thus a number of chimney shutters already known and can be mounted at the top of the stump. For example, a common technique for closing a chimney is to attach a frame on the chimney stump to which the shutter is pivotally mounted. This technique has the disadvantage of requiring most of the time to cut, drill or make other modifications on the chimney for their installation. Although these modifications are not difficult for a skilled worker, they increase the installation time. Another disadvantage of these closure devices is that they are generally made of cast iron, which not only results in high manufacturing costs, increasing their weight. The weight of these parts therefore increases the cost and difficulty of installation. Another disadvantage of such shutter devices is that they do not effectively close the chimney duct to prevent heat loss. Another disadvantage of such shutter devices is that the draft of the chimney can be disturbed according to the orientation of the winds. A further disadvantage of known techniques is that once the installation is in place, it may be detrimental to the aesthetics of the building. The invention aims to overcome the various disadvantages mentioned above. More specifically, an object of the invention is, at least in a particular embodiment, to provide a device for closing a chimney flue which allows an effective closure so as to avoid heat loss. Another object of the invention is, at least in one embodiment in particular, to provide such a device that is simple to implement and easily adaptable to a large number of chimneys. An object of the invention is also, at least in one embodiment in particular, to provide an insulation of the flue that is reliable and effective. The invention also aims, at least in one embodiment in particular, to provide a device that does not alter, or little, the aesthetics of the construction. Yet another object of the invention is, at least in one embodiment in particular, to provide a device providing increased security. In at least one particular embodiment of the invention, an object of the invention is to provide such a technique which makes it possible to simplify the manufacture and assembly of a device for closing off a chimney flue. and therefore reduce the corresponding costs. These objectives, as well as others which will appear more clearly later, are achieved according to the invention with the aid of a device for closing off a chimney flue, comprising: a shutter flap intended to open or closing the upper portion of said duct of said chimney; a support structure intended to be fixed on the stump of said chimney; - Guiding means in translation of said shutter flap disposed between said shutter flap and said support structure. According to the invention, such a closure device comprises guide means comprising a mast integral with the obstruction flap and a tube integral with said support structure, said mast being slidably mounted in said tube. Preferably, said support structure comprises two brackets intended to rest respectively on two parallel edges of said strain, and means for adjusting the spacing between said two brackets comprising a ruler structure. This gives a fastening system particularly simple to adjust and set up. According to an advantageous aspect of the invention, a system making it possible to keep the shutter open comprises a counterweight connected to said shutter shutter by means of a transmission coupling a flexible element and a pulley, so that the force of gravity exerted by the counterweight maintains the open flap. According to a particularly simple approach, this system 30 ensures the opening of the shutter without human action and is a safety in case of forgetting the opening of the shutter when starting a fire in the chimney.
According to the latter approach of the invention, such a closure device comprises a shutter connected to a gripping means such as a cable or a chain for placing said shutter in the closed position, so that when the it is pulled, said shutter closes, a coil spring can be disposed between said shutter and said gripping means. Thus, the vertical action down the chain or cable has the effect of fighting the force of the counterweight and down the hatch until the complete closure of the conduit. A better seal is also obtained when the flap is in the closed position, the spring making it possible to ensure constant contact between the stump and the flap. Keeping the chain or cable down is done by the establishment of a hooking means in a blank of the flue of the chimney.
This hooking means of the chain or the cable may, for example be a nail, a screw, a hook, or any other suitable element, for keeping the chain or cable down. According to the invention, such a closure device comprises said shutter shutter formed by a double skin structure and an insulating material disposed in said structure. This approach ensures reliable and effective insulation of the chimney and therefore the dwelling. According to an advantageous aspect of the invention, the structure of the flap takes the form of a pyramidal trunk, comprising an upper armature and a lower armature. Advantageously, the upper part of the stump may be partially covered by the shutter, thus ensuring better sealing and greater discretion. According to a particular aspect of the invention, said guide tube 30 has two longitudinal slots to said tube for guiding said mast in the form of a flat iron.
This prevents the mat from locking in the guide tube by cooperating a flat iron disposed on the upper part of the mat with the slots disposed on the guide tube. The invention also relates to a chimney equipped with a closure device according to the invention. The invention also relates to a method for sealing a device according to the invention on the stump of a chimney, comprising the following steps: - a coating is applied to the stump of the chimney; - Closing the shutter of the device on the coating still fresh so as to leave a print of the flap on the coating. Other features and advantages of the invention will appear more clearly on reading the following description of a particular embodiment of the invention, given as a simple illustrative and nonlimiting example, and the appended drawings, among which: FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a closure device according to the invention; - Figure 2 illustrates a chimney stack equipped with a closure device according to the invention; - Figure 3 is a sectional view of the shutter according to the invention; - Figures 4 and 5 are top perspective views, partial, of a closure device according to the invention; - Figure 6 details the counterweight system of the closure device according to the invention. As previously mentioned, the general principle of the invention is therefore based on the implementation of a shutter of a chimney flue to thermally isolate the latter. In at least one embodiment of the invention, this new approach notably makes it possible to form an effective insulation barrier for the chimney duct, when the shutter is closed.
Subsequently, consider a chimney equipped with a closure device of the conduit according to the invention. Figure 1 is a perspective view of a particular embodiment of the invention for which the closure device is mounted at the upper end of the conduit of a chimney (on the strain). The shutter 1, illustrated in Figure 3, comprises an upper frame 20 and lower 21, for example stainless steel, taking the form of a pyramidal trunk. The upper armature 20 comprises a central face 30 and four lateral faces 31 to 34 (FIG. 6) and the lower armature 21 comprises a central face 35 and four lateral faces 36 to 39 (FIG. 1). The lower reinforcement 21 is of smaller size so as to be able to fit under the upper reinforcement 20 by pressing between the lateral faces 31 to 34 of the upper reinforcement 20 and the lateral faces 36 to 39 of the lower reinforcement 21 , creating a housing between the central walls 30 and 35 of the two frames 20 and 21. Thus, the lower frame 21 is of a substantially lower height so as to accommodate an insulating material 22 in the housing thus formed. Advantageously, the insulating material 22 can be compressed between the two plates 20 and 21 according to the desired thickness of the shutter flap 1. Holes 23 are arranged at a regular distance on the lateral faces 31 to 34 and 36 to 39 of the two frames 20 and 21 so as to be able to secure the two frames 20 and 21 by means of a fastening system such as rivets 24, or any other fastening system known to those skilled in the art. The shutter shutter 1 thus formed is intended to rest in part on the upper part of the stump 3 of the chimney, as shown in FIG. 2. The lower armature 21 of the shutter shutter 1 is fixed in its center to a mast 2, by means of two tabs 4 folded at the end of the mast 2 and screwed to the lower frame 21, for moving the shutter 1 translational shutter along a guide tube 8 as shown in FIGS. 1, 4 and 5. The mat 2 comprises a flat iron 9 so as to co-operate with at least two longitudinal slots 10, arranged on two opposite faces of the guide tube 8, and thus ensure a better guiding when opening or closing shutter 1 shutter. According to a particular embodiment, the foot of the mast may be connected to gripping means 12, such as a chain or a cable, by means of a coil spring 11 thus ensuring a better seal when the flap is in the closed position, due to the elastic stress of the coil spring 11. As shown in Figures 3, 4 and 5, the mast 2 also comprises a second flat iron 50 arranged perpendicularly and at its center, on one side of the flat iron 9 so as to stiffen the mast 2, at least in the upper part of the mast. The two flat irons 9 and 50 can be secured by welding, and oriented in the same direction. As can be seen in Figures 4 and 5, the mast 2 is supported in the chimney duct by means of a support structure placed on the upper part of the strain 3. This support structure comprises two triangles 5 with angled base fixed on opposite faces of the guide tube 8 and comprising at least two pins 16 symmetrically arranged at the base of the triangle 5, a slider structure 6 comprises oblong openings 40 intended to cooperate with the pins 16 and at least two brackets 7 fixed 6. Two metal rods 17 are also arranged between the two triangles 5 on each side of the guide tube 8 so as to prevent the mast 2 from pivoting in the guide slots 8 of the guide tube 8. Thus, the device is adaptable to any chimney, regardless of the width of the duct. Indeed, during the installation of the device, simply slide the oblong openings of the strips 6 along the pins 16 and adjust to the width of the flue. Once this operation is performed, the angles 7 can be fixed on two parallel edges of the strain 3 by means of screws or any other fastener. Once the support structure is attached to the stump 3 of the chimney, a plaster can be applied so as to ensure optimal contact between the upper edge of the stump and the shutter.
Advantageously, it is possible to close the shutter 1 on the coating still fresh so as to leave the footprint of the lower frame 21 of the shutter 1 on the coating. Once the coating is dry, the coating forms a seat conforming to said lower frame 21 of the shutter 1 shutter. As can be seen in Figure 6, a counterweight 15 is connected to the mast 2 by means of a pulley 13 articulated on the guide tube 8 and a flexible cable 14 whose end 18 is fixed to the counterweight 15 and another end 19 is fixed to the mast 2 so as to maintain the shutter 1 in the open position, without human action. The counterweight 15 may form a hollow container with an upper opening, and may be in the form of an inverted obelisk for example. It is possible to adjust its weight, with a filling material such as sand or gravel for example, depending on the weight of the flap 1. The lower tip of the counterweight can facilitate the flow of flue gases. The particular shape of the counterweight 15 as well as its occupancy rate of the duct, in particular from 30 to 35%, make it possible to create a venturi effect which improves the draft of the chimney. Indeed, the counterweight 15 creates an obstacle for the gases that rush into the duct, forcing the gas to accelerate near the tip of the counterweight 15.
In order to close shutter shutter 1, the user initially pulls on cable 12 (or chain) so as to oppose a sufficient force to that generated by counterweight 15, which has the effect of lowering the mast 2 in translation and thus the shutter 1 shutter until the complete closure of the conduit. Once the cable 12 hooked on the drain, the spring 11 disposed between the base of the mast 2 and the cable 12 then ensures a constant contact between the top of the strain 3 and the flap 1 shutter. The downward maintenance of the cable 12 can be achieved by means of a nail planted in a blank of the throat, or any other attachment means known to those skilled in the art. Naturally, other embodiments could have been envisaged by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention defined by the claims below.
