Description

Vehicle interior trim and method of making such a trim. The present invention relates to a vehicle interior lining, of the type comprising a rigid frame and a flexible lining covering the frame. A dressing of this type can be used in any type of vehicle, and in particular in motor vehicles, trains or aircraft. Manufacturers of vehicles, especially motor vehicles, wish to have interior cladding having a visual appearance and a touch giving a good quality impression for users, particularly concerning the assembly and adjustment of parts.

To do this, it is possible to provide an interior lining comprising a rigid frame covered by a bilayer coating comprising a flexible liner and a textile. The lining provides softness to the touch, and the textile improves the visual quality and surface feel of the interior trim. Nevertheless, the fixation of the bilayer coating on the reinforcement requires tensioning the coating to avoid the formation of unsightly beads in the coating. As a result, not all forms of interior trim are feasible with sufficient quality, and this operation is difficult to achieve. In addition, the docking of the interior trim with another part of the vehicle may form beads in the coating.

An object of the invention is to provide a vehicle interior trim conferring an impression of good perceived quality, which is easy to manufacture, and offering greater freedom of style. For this purpose, the invention proposes a vehicle interior trim of the aforementioned type, in which the trim is overmolded on the armature and flocked with fibers. According to other embodiments, the inner lining comprises one or more of the following characteristics, taken in isolation or in any technically possible combination: the lining is made of foam; the filling is made of gel; - the thickness of the lining is equal to or greater than 1 mm; the lining comprises thicker regions; the flocking fibers are textile fibers, in particular polyamide or polypropylene fibers; and the thickness of the flocking is equal to or greater than 0.1 mm. The invention also relates to a motor vehicle comprising an interior trim as defined above. The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing an inner liner as defined above, in which the lining is molded onto the support by injection molding, and then the lining is flocked with the fibers. The invention and its advantages will be better understood on reading the description which follows, given solely by way of example, and with reference to the appended drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is a sectional view of FIG. interior trim of a motor vehicle; - Figures 2 to 4 are views similar to that of Figure 1, illustrating steps of a method of manufacturing the inner lining of Figure 1; and Figures 5 and 6 are views similar to that of Figure 1 and illustrating particular embodiments. As shown in Figure 1, the casing 2 is intended to be fixed inside a motor vehicle to dress for example an armrest, a door panel, a dashboard, a seat ... The cladding 2 comprises a front face 4 intended to be visible and accessible to a user, and a rear face 6 intended to be hidden when the inner lining 2 is fixed in the motor vehicle. The skin 2 is multilayer. It comprises a rigid armature 8, a flexible lining 10 covering the armature 8 and overmolded on it, and a flocking 12 covering the lining 10 on the opposite side to the armature 8. The flocking 12 is located on the side of the face 4, and the armature 8 is located on the side of the rear face 6. The armature 8 determines the general shape of the casing 2. It is obtained in a conventional manner, for example by plastic injection molding, such as only polypropylene or ABS. The liner 10 covers the frame 8 to give the cladding 2 some flexibility to the touch to improve the perceived quality and comfort. The liner 10 is made of an elastically compressible material to the touch to compress when a user presses on it. The comfort and flexibility of the lining depend in particular on its nature and its thickness.

The lining 10 is for example formed of a foam, in particular a polyurethane foam. Alternatively, the liner is formed of a gel. The lining 10 has for example a thickness E equal to or greater than 1 mm, preferably greater than 3 mm. The flocking 12 is carried out directly on the liner 10. It comprises an adhesive layer 16 applied on the upper surface 18 of the lining 10 opposite to the frame 8, and fibers 20 fixed in the adhesive layer 16. fibers 20 have one end trapped in the adhesive layer, and one free end. The perceived quality and the surface feel conferred by the flocking 12 depend in particular on the nature of the fibers 20, their free length (or thickness of the flocking), their arrangement and their number. The fibers 20 are preferably textile fibers, and for example polyamide or polypropylene fibers. The fibers 20 preferably have a free length of between 0.2 mm and 1 mm, for example 0.6 mm. The fibers 20 are preferably disposed substantially perpendicular to the upper surface 18 of the liner 10 to impart a softer surface feel. The cladding 2 confers a good quality impression due, on the one hand, the padding provided by the lining 10, and, on the other hand, the visual appearance and soft and silky surface feel conferred by the flocking 12 The cladding 2 is obtained easily and at low cost because, on the one hand, the lining 10 is overmolded on the frame 8, and on the other hand that the flocking 12 is made directly on the lining 10.

The lining 10 obtained by overmoulding of the frame 8 allows an easy and economical manufacture of the covering, as well as a good control of the thickness of the lining 10. It also results that the lining 10 is secured to the lining 10. reinforcement 8, which avoids the formation of beads in the liner 10 during assembly of the trim 2 in the vehicle 2. The flocking 12 made on the liner 10 facilitates the manufacture of the covering 2 and avoids the formation of bead during assembly of the trim 2 in the vehicle 2. The embodiment of a flocking 12 on an overmolded trim 10 also allows a great freedom of style, because very varied shapes can be conferred to the trim 10 during the molding, and that the flocking 12 can easily cover all the lining 10, which is not possible with a coating stretched over the frame, and in particular a bilayer coating comprising a lining and a textile of pare is lying. In addition, it is conceivable to flock only a portion of the lining 10, for example for style effects. According to a manufacturing method illustrated in FIGS. 2 to 4, a reinforcement 8, for example injection-molded, is provided and placed in a cavity 22 for molding a mold 24 comprising two complementary matrices 26 defining the cavity 22 between they (Figure 2). Then, the cavity 22 is injected with molten material intended to constitute the lining 10. The molten material covers the armature 8, and overmolds on it, finally ensuring a good cohesion between the lining 10 and the lining 10. frame 8 (Figure 3). Then, the frame 8 and the liner 10 are taken out of the mold 24, and the lining 10 is flocked, in a conventional manner, in a flocking apparatus. During flocking, the layer of adhesive 16 is applied to the upper surface 18 of the lining 10, and then fibers 20 are sprayed onto this upper surface 18 by means of a nozzle 28. The fibers 20 come to imprison themselves. in the adhesive layer 16 (Figure 4). In a known manner, to orient the fibers perpendicular to the upper surface 18, an electrostatic field is created during the projection step of the fibers 20.

The manufacturing process with overmolding of the lining 10 on the frame 8 and flocking of the lining 10 allows greater stylistic freedom. As illustrated in Figure 5, in one embodiment, the liner 10 includes a thicker region 30 for locally improving comfort, for example in a preferred bearing area for a user, due to the function and or the layout of the trim 2 in the vehicle. The thicker region 30 defines on the front face 4 a relief 32. In the illustrated example, the relief 32 has surfaces 34 undercut.

Indeed, because of the flexibility of the lining 10, the relief 32 is demoldable, and flocking completely covers the relief 32, including the undercut surface 34. In the embodiment of FIG. cover 2 forms an armrest and is fixed on a panel 36 of interior trim of a door 38.

The casing 2 has a cross section substantially in C open towards the panel 36, and comprising two branches 40. The casing 2 is fixed on the panel 36 by the ends of the branches 40. The upper portion 42 of the casing 2 defines a portion of support for the elbow. The lining 10 is provided with regions 44 thicker in this bearing portion 42. The upper surface 18 of the lining 10 has at the junction between the branches 40 a small radius of curvature R, for example greater than 20 mm. The invention applies to the armrests of a motor vehicle, more generally to any interior trim of a motor vehicle such as the door panels or the dashboard, and even more generally to any trim of vehicles other than vehicles. automobiles, eg train armrests.
