Abstract

The device has a handle (1) extended between two flanges, and a blocking unit (2) such as jam cleat, disposed between the flanges for gripping a rope (4) sliding between them. A support (3) is positioned between the handle and blocking unit for permitting releasing and sliding of the rope, under a load, according to a rope pulling angle with respect to an axis of the handle. The support is integrated to the blocking unit for forming a single part.

Description

La présente invention concerne une poignée pouvant glisser le long d'unThe present invention relates to a handle that can slide along a

The invention is particularly applicable in light sailing for "listening" grand'voile or riding for "the loin".

Without the invention an operator may have difficulty in holding a load through a rope (prolonged effort or excessive load). He may then be tempted to surround the rope around his hand to resist the load and thus risk the accident. Also, if he has to let the rope go, he can get burned by rubbing it in his palm.

The device according to the invention consists of a handle that improves grip and increases the effort applicable to it compared to a direct grip, while maintaining the sensitivity of the force feedback. The handle is extended by two flanges between which slips the rope. Between these two flanges is disposed a locking means to grip at any point the rope and a support positioned between the handle and the locking system to allow the release and sliding of the rope, even under load, depending on the angle of pulling it from the axis of the handle.

The set works in the following way: - If the operator wishes to reduce or lengthen the length of rope under load, he resumes with his free hand (called bitter hand) the tension by pulling on the part of the rope not loaded. This intervention creates a rotation of the handle, the rope exits the locking means and slides on the bitter support. When the handle is positioned at the desired location, after a simple reverse rotation of the handle, the operator releases the tension exerted on the back hand. The handle is automatically blocked.

- In case of excessive load or emergency, the operator can disengage without using his back hand. It tilts the handle down, the rope is released instantly blocking means and slides on the support. If it wants to take the load, a reverse rotation of the handle ensures an immediate jamming of the rope.

By fully symmetrizing the handle and adding a second locking means, regardless of the mounting direction of the rope in the handle, it remains functional. This configuration also makes it possible to use the invention on a rope which can receive a load alternately on each end. This situation can be encountered for example in sailing, on a continuous jib listening, whose two ends are struck on the sail.

Les dessins annexés illustrent l'invention - La figure 1 représente l'ensemble poignée, en coupe AA.  The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention. FIG. 1 shows the handle assembly, in section AA.

- Figure 2 shows the same set, in section BB.

- Figure 3 shows the cleat alone, seen according to CC.

- Figure 4 shows a sectional variant of the device.

Referring to Figures 1, 2 and 3, the device consists of a handle (1) extended by two flanges between which slides the rope (4). Between these two flanges are arranged a locking means (2) to grip at any point the rope and a support (3) positioned between the handle and the locking system to allow the release and sliding of the rope, depending on the angle of pulling it from the axis of the handle. The load to be held by the handle is on the horizontal end of the rope (fig 1).

Rotating the handle clockwise according to FIG. 1 makes it possible to unblock the rope even under tension. A simple pull on the part of the rope opposite to the load (vertical strand) makes it possible to adjust the position of the assembly on the rope.

The locking means may be a V-shaped notched cleat, whose characteristics such as the shape and size of the teeth (FIG 2), the angle of these with the axis of the rope under tension (FIG. 1), the opening angle (Fig. 3), are designed to ensure optimal rope attachment but also to facilitate its release.

According to a variant, with reference to FIG. 4, the support is integrated in the locking means to possibly form a single piece.

According to another variant, with reference to FIG. 4, the locking means can be doubled, symmetrically to the first.
