Abstract

The window has two, superimposed panels (16, 18) which can be moved in relation to each other, each of which has opaque (OP) and translucent (TR) strips with the same width. The panels (16, 18) are made of translucent glass and/or plastics panels such as Plexiglas (RTM). The opposite surfaces of the panels are covered with a film (28, 30) onto which the opaque areas have been printed. The opaque sections are progressively more transparent at the edges. The two panels can be moved in relation to each other so that the opaque sections of one panel are lined up with the translucent areas of the other panel. The panels are supported by one fixed (20) and one mobile (22) support. There are guides consisting of a stud (32) in the mobile support which fits into a sliding channel (34) in the fixed support.

Description

The present invention relates to a glazing assembly with adjustable opacity.

It applies in particular to glazing assemblies for a motor vehicle.

Already known in the prior art, for example in FR-A-2 667 349, a set of glazing with adjustable opacity comprising two translucent sheets between which is injected a variable amount of light absorbing liquid in order to adjust the opacity of the whole.

Such a glazing assembly is however complex and not very suitable for motor vehicles.

The object of the invention is to propose a glazing assembly with adjustable opacity of simple operation, easy to integrate into a motor vehicle and allowing a uniform distribution of the light passing through the glazing assembly.

To this end, the subject of the invention is a set of glazing with adjustable opacity, characterized in that it comprises two superimposed panels which can be displaced relative to one another, each having opaque and translucent patterns), the patterns opaque (respectively translucent of one panel being complementary to the opaque (respectively translucent) patterns of the other panel, the displacement of the panels making it possible to vary the overlap of the opaque and translucent patterns.

Suivant d'autres caractéristiques de l'invention:
- les motifs opaques et translucides forment des bandes parallèles alternées opaques et translucides, de même largeur;
- chaque panneau comporte une plaque translucide, revêtue d'un film comportant les motifs opaques et translucides, les films des deux panneaux étant disposés sur les faces en regard de ces panneaux;

FIG. 1 shows a motor vehicle 10 comprising a roof 12 provided with a glazing assembly 14, with adjustable opacity, according to the invention.

This glazing assembly 14 allows daylight to access the interior of the vehicle interior through its upper part.

With particular reference to FIGS. 2 to 5, it can be seen that the glazing assembly 14 comprises two superimposed panels 16, 18, the upper panel 16 being carried by two fixed end supports 20, and the lower panel 18 being carried by two movable end supports 22.

Preferably, the supports 20, 22 are profiled in the form of angles and are mutually parallel.

Note that only one support 20, 22 per panel 16, 18 is shown in the figures.

Referring in particular to FIG. 5, it can be seen that each panel 16, 18 comprises a translucent plate 24, 26 coated with a film 28, 30 comprising opaque OP and translucent TR patterns forming opaque and translucent alternating, parallel bands , of the same width, extending for example in a transverse direction relative to the vehicle 10.

Preferably, the films 28, 30 are arranged on the opposite faces of the panels 16, 18.

The plates 24, 26 are made of a material comprising glass and / or plastic, in particular Plexiglas.

The films 28, 30 are made of a translucent synthetic material and are bonded to the plates 24, 26.

The opaque bands OP are printed, for example by screen printing, on the translucent films 26, 28, the translucent bands TR being delimited by the zones of the films 28, 30 complementary to the printed bands OP.

The movable lower panel 18 is displaceable relative to the fixed upper panel 16 by translation parallel to a transverse plane relative to the strips OP, TR, in an oblique direction relative to a direction normal to the panels 16, 18, using means which will be described later.

The opaque bands OP (respectively translucent TR) of one panel 16 being complementary to the opaque bands OP (respectively translucent TR) of the other panel 18 the displacement of the panels 16, 18 makes it possible to vary the overlap of the opaque bands
OP and translucent TR so as to adjust the opacity of the glazing assembly 14.

Preferably, the movable panel 18 can be moved between a position in contact with the fixed panel 16, in which the opaque bands OP of one panel 16 coincide with the translucent bands TR of the other panel 18, as shown in FIG. FIG. 6, and a position separated from the fixed panel 16, in which the opaque bands OP (respectively translucent TR) of one panel 16 coincide with the opaque bands OP (respectively translucent TR) of the other panel 18, as shown in Figure 8.

With particular reference to FIGS. 2 to 4, it can be seen that the angles 20, 22 are associated by pairs of adjacent angles, each pair comprising a fixed angle 20 and a mobile angle 22.

Each angle 20, 22 comprises a wing 20A, 22A for fixing on which the corresponding panel 16, 18 is glued, and a wing 20B, 22B comprising means for guiding the movable panel 18, in sliding contact with the corresponding wing 20B, 22B of the adjacent angle 20, 22.

Preferably, these guide means comprise pins 32, carried by one of the angles 20, 22, for example the mobile angle 22, intended to cooperate with the edges of openings 34 forming oblique slides formed in the other angle 20 , 22, for example the fixed angle 20.

Each pair of adjacent angles 20, 22 comprises at least one stud 32 and a corresponding slide 34 arranged at each end of the angles. It is possible to provide a larger number of pins 32 and slides 34.

The operation of the glazing assembly 14 is very simple.

The movable panel 18 is controlled using drive means 36 comprising for example a motorized endless screw 38, connected to a movable angle 22 by conventional linkage transmission means 40.

When the movable lower panel 18 is in contact with the fixed upper panel 16, the opacity of the glazing assembly is maximum because the translucent bands TR of the upper panel 16 coincide with the opaque bands OP of the lower panel 18 (see FIG. 6 ).

To allow the passage of a certain amount of light through the glazing assembly 14, the worm screw 38 is actuated, which causes the lower panel 18 to move in oblique translation and to shift the opaque opaque and translucent bands TR of the two panels 16, 18, so that the translucent bands TR of the lower panel 18 are partially covered by opaque bands OP of the upper panel 16, as shown in FIG. 7.

The passage of a maximum amount of light through the whole of the glazing 14 is obtained by moving the movable lower panel 18 so that the translucent bands TR of the upper panel 16 coincide with the translucent bands TR of the lower panel 18, like this is shown in figure 8.

The invention is not limited to the embodiment described above.

In particular, it can be applied to glazing assemblies used in fields other than that of the automobile, for example in the building industry.

The opaque bands can be of various colors. For example, in the case of a glazing assembly according to the invention integrated in a motor vehicle, the opaque strips may be of the same color as the bodywork, so as to preserve the general aesthetic appearance of the vehicle.

The panels of the glazing assembly according to the invention are not necessarily planar and can have relatively complex rounded general shapes since the opacity is adjusted by oblique translation of one panel relative to the other. and not by sliding from one panel against the other.

The supports of the glazing assembly panels according to the invention can have very varied shapes, whether profiled or not.

The panels of the glazing unit according to the invention may include opaque and translucent patterns other than strips, namely translucent and opaque patterns whose shapes are such that the opaque (respectively translucent) patterns of a panel are complementary opaque (respectively translucent) patterns on the other panel.

The opaque patterns can be separated from the translucent patterns by zones of progressive transparency by approaching the translucent patterns.

L'invention comporte de nombreux avantages. The invention has many advantages.

In particular, the glazing assembly according to the invention operates in a simple manner and is easy to integrate into a motor vehicle.

In addition, it makes it possible to distribute the light uniformly passing through the glazing assembly by varying the covering of opaque and translucent patterns distributed uniformly over the panels of the glazing assembly.
