Abstract
Description
MECANISME D' OUVERTURE AUTOMATIQUE POUR COUTEAU
A LAME ARTICULEE
WITH ARTICULATED BLADE
The present invention relates to a device allowing the automatic opening and manual closing of a knife with an articulated blade using two separate controls.
These two functions are traditionally obtained from a single push button, which is sometimes difficult to integrate into a knife in terms of its aesthetics or its mechanical characteristics. Often, a single pusher allows the opening and excludes the possibility of associating a corkscrew.
The device according to the invention overcomes these drawbacks. It has, in fact, according to a first characteristic, two separate levers perfectly integrated in the shape of the knife, causing two helical ramps to rotate. These ramps have the effect of lifting the main spring on which they are articulated, so as to unlock the blade for the two functions "opening" and "closing". One of these ramps rests on the knife frame for the closing function, while the other ramp rests on the blade for the opening function, thus releasing the energy of a spring specially assigned to this effect.
The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention and do not replace the explanatory description with the text.
Figures 1 to 4 of the board 1/4 show in section the different positions of the blade (1) as well as the springs (4) and (12).
FIG. 5 represents a top view, the partial section of which shows a helical ramp (9) and its return spring (11).
En référence aux dessins des planches 2/4, 3/4 et 4/4
Figure. With reference to the drawings of plates 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4
Figure. 6, the system comprises a blade (1) articulated on two frames (2) and (3) and kept locked in the open or closed position by the main spring (4).
1 et 6).Two levers (6) and (7) are articulated on the support (5) integral with the main spring (4) and driving in rotation two helical ramps (8) and (9). Two return springs (10) and (11) acting on the ramps (8) and (9) allow the levers (6) and (7) to return to their initial positions as illustrated in plate 2/4. An independent spring (12) automatically opens the blade (shown in Figures 1 and 6).
OPENING OPERATION: with reference to plate 3/4, when the lever (6) is pivoted as shown in Figures 9, 10, 11, the helical ramp (8) integral with the lever (6), comes to press the blade (1) via the opening spring (12), thereby causing the main spring (4) to rise. The blade (1) being thus unlocked, the spring (12) can then release its energy and project the blade in the open position (PL 1/4 - fig. 2, 3 and 4). The main spring (4) remains in contact with the rounded edge of the blade during the entire "opening" stroke and falls back at the end of the stroke into the notch provided for locking the blade (PL 1/4 - fig. 4 and
PL 2/4 - Fig. 6). As soon as the lever (6) is released, it returns to its initial position thanks to the return spring (10) - (PL 2/4 - FIG. 7 and 8).
1 - PL 1/4. CLOSING OPERATION: with reference to board 4/4: when the lever (7) is pivoted, the helical ramp (9) secured to the lever (7) comes to rest on the frame (3) thus causing the spring to lift main (4) - (FIG. 12). The blade (1) being thus unlocked, it can then be folded back (PL 1/4 fig. 3). The main spring (4) remains in contact with the rounded edge of the blade throughout the closing stroke, as soon as the lever ((7) is released. The blade (1) compresses the opening spring (12) (PL 1/4 - fig. 2) and the spring (4) locks it at the end of its travel as shown in fig. 1 - PL 1/4.
According to a variant not illustrated, the opening function is also possible by acting on the lever (7), but the main spring (4) being thus held raised, the locking of the blade in the open position is theoretically not done. This locking can nevertheless occur if the operator promptly releases the lever (7) during the stroke of the blade.
According to another variant not illustrated, it is also possible to provide the two functions, opening and closing, by acting simultaneously on the two levers (6) and (7). In the latter case, the ramp (8) comes to rest on the frame (2) in the same way as the ramp (9) rests on the frame (3). To lock the blade in the open position, the two levers must be released quickly during the stroke of the blade.
This system according to the invention is particularly intended for "LAGUIOLE" type knives in which it is integrated without modifying or altering the traditional form.
