la fig. 1 est une vue en coupe verticale prise de l'avant, c'est-à-dire en supposant qu'on regarde vers la face de l'outil dans laquelle le feuillard est chargé comme représenté, la plaque-couvercle avant, la vanne de commande et le levier manuel de la pince formant bloqueur d'amarrage étant omis;
la fig. 2 est une vue en élévation d'arrière de l'appareil en supposant que le levier de la vanne de commande est placé en vue d'exercer la tension sur le feuillard, certaines parties étant supposées omises ou brisées;
la fig. 3 est une vue en élévation d'arrière semblable en supposant que le levier de la vanne de commande est placé en vue de l'actionnement de l'équipage de jonctionnement, certaines parties étant omises ou représentées, les arrachements étant différents;
les fig. 3A et 3B sont des vues en élévation prises dans la direction des flèches 3A et 3B de la fig. 3;
Apparatus for strapping packages using strapping
This invention relates to apparatus for strapping packages or packages and relates more particularly to an apparatus of this type of the type comprising essentially a member for tensioning a loop of strip or other flexible link around the package and a junction assembly for connecting one to the other, the overlapping parts of this strip.
An apparatus comprising these essential features is described in Swiss patent No. 371040 of April 10, 1959 belonging to the same company and comprises a motor suitable for actuating the tensioning member. The object of the invention is to indicate a device allowing the actuation in a more efficient manner of such a device.
The invention allows the power of the actuating motor of the apparatus to be directed alternately to the tensioning member or to the junction assembly under the manual control of the operator. The motor provided for this purpose can provide a reversible rotational drive transmitted via freewheel clutches acting in opposite directions to the tensioning member and to the joining assembly, so that the actuation of each without the other is ensured automatically by its respective clutch for a single direction of rotation of the drive device. In this case, the motor can be any suitable type of rotary reversing motor, and it is sufficient that the control be exerted to start and stop this motor in one direction or the other.
As a variant, the control can intervene to engage on the output shaft of a motor rotating in one direction only and independently either towards the tensioning member or towards the joining assembly.
The motor, when it activates the tensioning member, can be automatically stopped in the presence of the resistance offered by the integral tension required. This tensioning member is preferably capable of maintaining any applied tension independent of this motor. A motor of the pneumatic type and capable of remaining in operation until it stops when this voltage is reached by simply keeping it in engagement with a source of compressed air may advantageously find its use here and may be of the type vane and rotor or similar type to vane turbines.
The joining assembly preferably comprises a member for separating the strip from a part of the latter on which the tensioning member acts, and the actuation of this assembly may be such that an operating cycle thereof. it just needs to be started and then dropped so that it ends automatically.
The above functional characteristics are independent of whether the motor is reversible or capable of rotating in one direction only, but operation by means of a reversible air motor can be performed manually in a particularly simple and convenient manner by means of a single valve. controlling the air supply to this motor in its respective directions of rotation. Thus, such a control valve simply needs to be kept open in one direction to ensure this rotation in the opposite direction with a view to joining the strip. The valve provided is preferably designed to open to simply initiate the rotation required for joining, followed immediately by releasing this valve so that it closes.
For this purpose it can be associated with a bypass forming> controlled by an auxiliary valve itself capable of being automatically opened by the joining crew at the start and closed by them at the end of the operating cycle.
A typical pneumatically operated apparatus as provided for by the invention is described below in detail and by way of example with reference to the accompanying schematic drawings in which
fig. 1 is a vertical sectional view taken from the front, i.e. assuming one looks towards the face of the tool in which the strip is loaded as shown, the front cover plate, the valve control and the manual lever of the clamp forming mooring blocker being omitted;
fig. 2 is a rear elevational view of the apparatus assuming that the control valve lever is positioned to exert tension on the strip, some parts believed to be omitted or broken;
fig. 3 is a similar rear elevational view assuming that the control valve lever is positioned for actuation of the joining crew, some parts being omitted or shown, the cutouts being different;
figs. 3A and 3B are elevational views taken in the direction of arrows 3A and 3B in FIG. 3;
figs. 4A and 4C are similar sectional views of the control valve occupying its three operating positions, that is to say the positions corresponding respectively to the voltage and to the initiation of the operation of the junction assembly, in assuming that the auxiliary valve forming by-pass is open, and the neutral position after this auxiliary valve has closed automatically to end the joining operation.
In this embodiment, the device is designed with a view to acting on the metal strip forming the flexible link, and its general arrangement is similar in principle to that of the tool described in patent No. 371040 already cited.
However, instead of the splice crew dies for sealing and severing the strip being operated in the required sequence by means of a pair of oppositely pivoting manual levers, they are operated here from a single drive shaft 10 which can (as shown) be the shaft of the eccentric 1 i serving to lower the first die 12 to be operated and acting on the shaft 13 of the eccentric 14 of the second die 15 carrying the sectioning blade 16 on the side where the tension is exerted.
The junction assembly is thus designed with a view to being actuated by rotation in one direction, so as to obtain the results aimed at by the invention via the final pinion 17 of a transmission starting from the engine 18, this pinion can here be rationally mounted on the same shaft 10.
The tension device described in the patent
No 371040 already cited is also studied here with a view to a similar actuation by replacing its reciprocating blocker by a serrated roller or wheel 19 capable of turning in one direction and capable of being manually raised away an associated anvil 20 on the base 21 of the apparatus with a view to inserting the strip of strip S1 which must be tensioned and also, if necessary, with a view to its subsequent removal.
The tensioning device is, in other respects, essentially the same as that described in the prior patent and comprises a clamp 22 for maintaining the tension applied between this wheel and the joining assembly, this holding clamp here being sufficiently released to allow the aforementioned release of the strip by suddenly releasing the tension affecting this strip when it is cut.
The required raising and lowering of the tension roller 19 can be effected by mounting it together with the associated final pinion 23 on an arm 24 capable of pivoting upward and whose axis 25 (see fig. 1). ) is coaxial with or (as shown) sufficiently close to the axis of the following pinion 26 (see fig. 2) through which the propulsion from the engine is transmitted, in order to ensure that these pinions always remain fully or sufficiently in taken. The arm 24 can pivot upwards under the action of an appropriate manual lever 27 despite the antagonism of a spring 28 having sufficient power to bring this wheel into working contact with the strip of strip.
The motor with only one direction of rotation which is indicated in Swiss patent N) 371040 already cited is replaced here by a reversible motor whose output shaft is respectively connected by means of a gear train to the terminal pinions 17 and 25 of the junction assembly and to the tensioning wheel, this gear train being able to rationally be common to the two pinions including the aforementioned pinion 26. To give certainty that the rotation of the motor is then transmitted only to the junction crew in one direction and to the tension roller in the other direction, each of the final sprockets comprises a freewheel clutch 17a and 28a having a suitable action which can rationally be of the ratchet type.
The required control of the motor to ensure its rotation in opposite directions is provided by a valve generally designated 29 which can be conveniently mounted on the side of the motor located above the drive shaft 10 of the motor. 'junction crew. This valve can comprise a rotary core 30 provided with a manual lever 31 and capable of coming to occupy any one of three positions. In the first of these positions (see Figs. 2 and 4A) this valve connects an orifice 32 of the motor to a source of compressed air through an inlet port 33 and another port 34 to the exhaust 35.
In the second position (see fig. 3 and 4B) this valve connects this other orifice 34 to the air inlet and this first orifice 32 to the exhaust, the two orifices being closed in the third position forming the intermediate or neutral position. (see fig. 4C). It will be noted that the pipes effectively ensuring communication between these orifices and the motor are not shown in the drawings.
The actuation of the valve 29 between this neutral position and its first position, that is to say the position ensuring the rotation of the motor in the proper direction to rotate the tension wheel 19, is preferably entirely positive so to allow the operator to feel by the drop in engine speed which is the consequence that the completion of the voltage has been reached. Its limit can moreover be determined by an adjustable expansion valve 36 placed in the channel starting from the rotary core 30 and going to the first orifice 32.
The valve 29 is however, preferably, biased by a suitable spring 37 from its second position, that is to say from its position ensuring the rotation of the motor in the direction of actuation of the joining assembly with return to the aforementioned neutral position to allow a simple momentary opening of the valve in this direction, followed by its release with a view to its return to the neutral position, which allows the actuation of the junction assembly to be all just initiated by the operator and then terminated automatically.
An auxiliary valve 38 subjected to the load of a spring and provided for this purpose controls, via a channel 39 forming a bypass, made in the valve plug, the passage between the inlet 33 of air and port 34; it is actuated by a cam 40 mounted again preferably on the aforementioned drive shaft 10 of the junction assembly, so as to open this channel forming bypass when this assembly starts to operate (see fig. . 4B) and to remain open under the influence of this cam until the latter allows it to close, thus ending the operating cycle of the crew.
The free end S2 of the strip of strip is anchored as indicated in the aforementioned French patent by means of a holding clamp 41 mounted on the base 21 of the tool on the same side of the junction assembly as the tensioning member, this clamp being closed by a manual lever 42 but can be opened automatically under the action of another cam 43 mounted on the drive shaft 10 and which exerts on this lever a thrust by means of a plunger 44 during the final part of the operation of this joining device.
According to a possible variant, a motor rotating only in one direction which can, if necessary, run continuously while the apparatus is working, can be employed in combination with a suitable two-way clutch capable of directing the motor force alternately. by means of two separate transmissions respectively to the tensioning member and to the junctioning crew, this clutch possibly comprising an intermediate position. Such an arrangement does not require a control valve, although the expansion valve 36 serving to limit the applied voltage and the auxiliary valve 38 forming a bypass can be kept in the air supply to the engine provided that, in the case of an expansion valve, the minimum pressure required to ensure the tension exceeds that which is necessary to actuate the junction crew.
The freewheel clutches 17a and 23a are of course unnecessary in such a case, but in all other respects this variant embodiment of the apparatus may be similar to the first construction.
