Abstract

The tyre is made from a number of layers, including at least one layer (2,3) of an elastic rubber and an outer tread (4). Between the outer layer (3) of elastic rubber and the tread (4) the tyre is equipped with a layer (5) of a material which can be vulcanised in place, e.g. of steel mesh or a coated textile. The additional layer can have a number of components, and it can extend across the whole width of the tyre or be intermittent across its width. ADVANTAGE - Increased tread strength and longer life.
