Cette technique présente des problèmes d'étanchéité. Il est en effet nécessaire d'injecter entre le joint en H et le bord du pare-brise une pâte d'étanchéité. Or, il est souvent difficile d'appliquer cette pâte de façon uniforme, notamment pour les grands pare-brise de plusieurs mètres carres. Cette technique est donc assez complexe et nécessite du personnel qualifié ce qui augmente les coûts de montage.En outre, il est nécessaire pour chaque pare-brise de faire des essais sous pluie artificielle pour tester l'étanchéité. Du fait des tolérances autorisées lors de la fabrication des pare-brise, il existe parfois des différences importantes de galbe, de hauteur et de largeur duditpare-brise. En conséquence, il est alors nécessaire de rajouter de la pâte d'étanchéité a certains endroits. On augmente aussi les risques de casse du pare-brise, du fait des nombreuses manipulations.
