Abstract

The exhaust system e.g. for a motorisee bicycle or moped has a curved exhaust pipe (1) with a male end (7) fitting inside the female socket (8)of the exhaust silences (4). The silences is fixed to the vehicle chassis by a bracket (9). The two sections of the exhaust system are held together by two springs (3) which hook over brackets (6, 7) welded to the outside of the exhaust pipe and the silencer. The exhaust pipe is inserted into the engine exhaust port (5) e.g. a two stroke or fourstroke engine and moves with the engine. The coupling allows the curved exhaust pipe to rotate inside the fixed silencer. ADVANTAGE - The exhaust piep coupling allows free movement of the engine and vehicle mounted sections on engine installations where the engine moves under load.

Description

DESCRIPTION
COUDE DE POT D'ECHAPPEMENT ARTICULE
POUR VELOMOTEURS - CYCLOMOTEURS ET
MOTOCYCLETTES A MOTEUR FLOTTANT
DESCRIPTION
ARTICULATED EXHAUST PIPE ELBOW
FOR MOPEDS - MOPEDS AND
MOTORCYCLES WITH FLOATING MOTOR
The present invention relates to a device allowing the articulation and the rotation of the exhaust elbow fixed on the cylinder of the internal combustion engine, inside the exhaust pipe, itself fixed on the cycle part of the moped, of the moped. or motorcycle.

Traditionally, it is the whole engine of the exhaust elbow and the exhaust pipe which is articulated with respect to the cycle part of the vehicle.

The device according to the invention overcomes this drawback.

It in fact comprises an articulation by rotation between the elbow of the exhaust pipe and the exhaust pipe itself.

This articulation by rotation allows the engine floating on its axis, as well as the elbow of the exhaust pipe of which it is integral, to move gradually according to the operating speed of the engine without causing an identical displacement of the exhaust itself fixed on the cycle part of the vehicle.

According to a preferred embodiment, the junction of the exhaust elbow and the exhaust pipe is ensured by fitting the elbow into the exhaust pipe. This interlocking is permanently maintained by two metal springs connecting the exhaust elbow and the exhaust itself.

The maIe part of the exhaust elbow having an external diameter slightly smaller than the female internal part of the exhaust pipe in order to allow the interlocking and rotation of the parts fitted one inside the other.

Les dessins annexés illustrent l'invention. The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention.

Figure 1 shows in section the device according to the invention.

The exhaust elbow (1) enters the cylinder of the internal combustion engine through the hole provided for this purpose (5). The rigidity of the fixing is ensured by a retaining support fixed on the motor (9).

The exhaust elbow (1) is fitted by its female part (7) into the male orifice (8) of the exhaust pipe (4). The nesting is permanently maintained by two springs (3) which are stapled on four welded metal hooks, on the one hand on the exhaust elbow for two of them, and on the other hand, on two others welded hooks on the exhaust.

The interlocking of the parts, linked to the natural flexibility imparted by the springs allows articulation and rotation of the parts thus nested.

The female part of the exhaust elbow can, as it moves, since it is integral with the engine, rotate by rotation in the male part of the exhaust pipe.

The lubrication of moving parts is ensured by the exhaust gases from the engine (two-stroke cycle engine or by needle bearings, four-stroke cycle engine or diesel).

2 shows a front view of the device according to the invention.

The device according to the invention is particularly intended for the exhaust system of any floating internal combustion engine, that is to say having to move on an axis as the internal rotation speed progresses while the exhaust itself, for reasons of safety, efficiency or noise, must remain permanently in a fixed position relative to the chassis or the cycle part of the vehicle.
