Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a toothbrush whose bristle-bearing part is oriented at an appropriate angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the handle, so as to be able to brush all the teeth in the direction recommended by dentists, say from the gum towards the end of the tooth.
Known toothbrushes do not allow correct brushing of the molars and premolars and are impractical for other teeth due to the alignment of the brush relative to the handle.
The toothbrush, object of the present invention, is remarkable in that the part carrying the bristles can be oriented at an appropriate angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the handle. This angle can be 90 degrees, but can be adjustable from 0 to 90 degrees if the user wishes. The angle can be obtained by rotation of the part carrying the bristles relative to the handle, or by deformation of the handle. The rotation of the brush can be obtained manually. The handle may be made of plastic usually used for toothbrushes, or flexible plastic molded on a metal insert.
An embodiment of the invention is described below by way of indication and in no way limitative with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 is a front view of the handle in the case where the handle and the brush are two separate parts.
Figure 2 is a top view of the handle.
Figure 3 is a bottom view of the part forming the brush.
Figure 4 is a front view of the part forming the brush.
The device according to the invention comprises a handle made of rigid molded plastic material in which a hole 1 allows the clip 3 of the brush to pass. Two nipples 2 are housed in the groove 4. The nipples 2 by placing themselves by manual rotation in the housings 5 of the brush allow stopping in the chosen position. When the pins 2 of the handle are not in the housings 5 of the brush, the clip 3 is under stress and in fact, when the pins 2 take place in the housings 5, the force exerted by the clip 3 allows the immobilization of the brush. The enlarged housing 6 allows automatic mounting of the brush on the handle while reducing the angular precision necessary for mounting. Figure 5 shows the brush and handle assembly assembled in the aligned position in front view. Figure 6 shows the brush and handle assembly assembled in the aligned position in top view. Figure 7 shows the brush and handle assembly assembled in the 90-degree position in front view. Figure 8 shows the brush and handle assembly assembled in the 90-degree position when viewed from above. The handle can be made of rigid molded plastic, usually used for the manufacture of toothbrushes. The brush must be made of rigid molded plastic whose mechanical characteristics allow, by the elasticity of the clip 3, the rotation of the brush relative to the handle.
In the case where the brush and the handle are made in one piece and where the orientation of the brush relative to the handle is by deformation of the latter, the brush-handle assembly must be made of molded plastic whose mechanical properties would allow easy permanent deformation associated with good rigidity and its possibility of returning to an upright position a few hours after its use; where indeed in flexible plastic material molded on a metal insert 7 shown in FIG. 7.
The shape of the handle must in this case allow deformation at the chosen location, by reducing its section.
It is understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown which constitute only an example to which numerous modifications can be made without departing from the present invention.
