Abstract

A pushbutton switch array, for example for a telephone, has a first contact set formed by three parallel metal strips (V) and a second contact set formed by four plain parallel metal strips (H) arranged at right angles crossing beneath the first set. The strips (V, H) are held rigid by nonconductive supports (5). Four tongues (C1) are pressed upward out of reach upper strip (V) immediately above a lower strip (H) and are supported at their bases by respective non-conductive bosses (14). Deformations (13) in the tongues (C1) enable their downward deflection into contact with the lower strips (H) in a snap-action. A corresp. pushbutton (1) is supported in a grill (2) and rests on the free end of each tongue (11) by way of a lug (4). Depression of the button closes the tongue (C1) with the lower strip (H). The construction avoids the use of printed circuit arrays although the lower strips may be formed as a printed circuit.
