Abstract

A pushbutton switch has button (2) which is slidable axially of the switch body (1) and carries a cam (3) on an inner portion which cooperates with a stud (4) on one end of an axially extending lever (5) in the body (1) to latch and release the button. The other end of the lever (5) is integral with a flat base (6) which is biassed towards the button (2) against an inner flange (11, 12) of the body (1) biassing preferably effected by an axial coil spring abutting the base (6) and the end of the body (1). Locking and releasing the pushbutton is effected by pressing the button (2) each time, engaging and disengaging the cam (3) and stud (4) thus pivoting the lever (5), first one way then the opposite way about the flange to comprise first one side and then the other of the spring. The arrangement allows actuation of the switch by a considerably reduced force on the button (2).
