A spring-loaded push-button switch comprises two parts movable selectively relatively to the switch body by manual pressure either unitarily, to effect adjustment of the switch contacts only for as long as pressure is maintained, or one part independently of the other, to effect the said adjustment and latch in that position until the said other part is operated independently in a separate operation to release the said one part. As shown, pressure on inner part 26 causes unitary movement of both parts 26, 23, against their spring-loadings to cause spring contacts such as 4b, 6b to be engaged by the contact-bridging segments 13, 14. Independent movement of outer part 23 against a single spring-loading causes latch ends 11 of the spring contacts to interlock behind the flange 16 formed by segments 13, 14 and maintain their position until release is effected by pressure on inner part 26 causing an abutment 35 on a rod 31 to push a collar 34 to engage cam surfaces 10 of the spring contacts and unlatch ends 11. Part 26 is brightly coloured to indicate when the push-button is in its latched position. Alternatively, locking can be effected by a spring-loaded plunger entering a slot in the outer part when it is in its contact engaging position until release is effected by pressure on the inner part causing a cam-surface thereon to displace the plunger from its locking position (Figs. 6-8, not shown).
