Abstract
The machine has pairs of interactive parallel rollers (7, 10) with reciprocal circumferential ribs (8) and channels (11). The interval (h) between the rollers is progressively reduced as a sheet passes through. This obtains rectangular sheets with parallel edges and undulations as against the slightly tapered forms obtained using a constant roller axis interval. The ribbed roller (7) is displaced for adjustment, and the interval may be reduced by 90% during a sheet pass. A motor (12) rotates a horizontal screw (13) via gear wheels (14) to vertical screws (15), and displacing sleeve slides (6) on columns (16). These support the ribbed roller (7) journals. Controls provide for the detection of sheet movements. Roller divergence and convergence is initiated as the leading and trailing sheet edges respectively pass through the rollers.
