Abstract

The machine frame carries a mixer, from which the liq. material enters a dosing chamber mounted on the bottom end of a tubular piston rod driven vertically in a double-acting work cylinder. The hollow rod also functions as a double acting work cylinder for a piston fitted with a rod carrying a press plunger driven vertically in the dosing chamber. The dosing chamber consists of two zones sepd. by a sliding shutter; and the lower zone is fitted with a second sliding shutter via which the liq. material is driven into the core box. Threaded spindles are pref. used to adjust the strokes of the two rods, the dosing chamber possessing an access hole for adjusting the length of the second rod. Liq. moulding material is pressed into a heated core box to make hollow cores facilitating the removal of gases during the casting of metals.
