Abstract

The machine has a cylindrical drum which rotates beneath a feed hopper. A cavity in the drum is filled with material from the hopper. As the drum rotates and the contents of the cavity are deposited below the drum. The volume of material accepted by and delivered from the cavity is adjustable. The drum has a diametral bore housing a double action piston with limited free movement. Displacement of the piston takes place with the bore in line with the hopper outlet. The top of the piston draws in a measured vol. of material; the bottom of the piston simultaneously discharges a similar vol. of material from the lower end of the bore. Used partic. as an automatic dough divider but also as a volumetric depositor for pastes, powders, granules, flakes, etc. The machine is simple, robust and inexpensive. It is easily adjusted for product vol. and requires little maintenance.
