Abstract
The elastic expandable tube (A) enlarges radially as internal pressure increases, being continguous with a length (B) of tube which is axially extendable. The proportions of the two constituent lengths are such that the length of the composite tube remains constant as the prim. length expands. The prim length is of rubber reinforced by two layers of equally distributed parallel cables (11), the two layers being angled relative to one another and subtending angles of less than the equilibrium angle with tube generatrices. The sec length is of a similar construction with the angles subtended with the generatrices being greater than the equilibrium value.
