[Classes 122(i) and 122(v)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A swab piston comprises a cylindrical wall portion a formed by right- and lefthand helically disposed ribs or strips 2, 3, the ends of which are connected to axially spaced opposite end portions 6, the ribs or strips being resiliently connected at their points of intersection and spaced to provide a series of recesses 4 to form a honeycomb surface on the wall a, a resilient web 5 extending between the ribs 2, 3. Modified forms in which the radial position of the web 5 is varied are described and the swab may be used to seal upon an internal surface. In a modification, the strips 2, 3 may be of metal and subsequently covered by a continuous layer of rubber. Specification 635,772 is referred to.
