Abstract

The engine has a male rotor (3) with two projecting lobes (5) meshing with recesses (6) in a female rotor (4). Packing strips (13) in the faces of the rotors seal them to each other and to the stator (2). Ports in the end face of the stator admid combustion air and release exhaust gases as they are uncovered in turn by the lobes of the male rotor. Facing ports in both end faces allow scavenging air to be blown through the chamber by a fan. They are opened and closed by a shutter worked from the engine shaft.
