Abstract

1531541 Rotary positive-displacement fluid-machines J ALLAN 1 April 1977 [20 Jan 1976] 2118/76 Heading F1F In a double-acting I.C. engine a rotor 10 has two circumferentially orientated grooves in its periphery co-operating with radially-sliding vanes in a stator 20 to form induction and compression, and expansion and exhaust, chambers, respectively. Air, or fuel and air mixture inducted into the left-hand groove is compressed into combustion chambers 50 wherein the fuel is injected and/or ignited. After expansion in the right-hand groove the combustion products escape through ports 25. The sliding vanes may be replaced with rotary ones, Fig. 4 (not shown).
