Abstract

Platform for the prodn. of petroleum or other materials, to be positioned on the seabed or below a similar stretch of water, above a plate forming a well head, carries the heads of well riser pipes. The platform which is floated to the site, is attached by cables to anchorages fixed in the ground in the proximity of the well head; the cables being controlled by winches so that the platform can be moved relatively to the point to which it is towed, not only horizontally, but it can also be rotated on a vertical axis. The final accurate positioning being determined with the aid of optical, ultrasonic and other devices. In the case of a platform with a weighted foundation to be positioned as described above, the baseplate has >=1 chamber dimensioned suitably so as to fit over the well head plate with its riser pipes. Guides for the vertical motion are also provided and work with the well head plate to ensure accurate lowering to the anchorage on the ground. Used to install the platform directly and accurately above the well head which has already been bored in the seabed, so that the total time required for the installation is reduced. The design of the platform, equipped already with piping to correspond to that on the seabed, is simplified.
