Abstract

Fragile goods are packaged for protection during transportation and litigation may ensue from any damage received. Detection of shocks likely to cause damage is indicated by movement of the support for a mass. A spherical mass (1) is maintained in a stable position between a transport plate (2) and a crater support (3) which is firmly mounted in the base of a rigid cylindrical enclosure (4). Shock or deformation applied (5) to the enclosure which exceeds a predetermined threshold will cause the mass to change position. Movement can be indicated by reference to markings on the transparent cover plate.
