Abstract

The automatic watering of plants in the open air or in the greenhouse regulates the watering according to the moist-content of the substrate, on or in which the plants grow. As control parameter, the water level in a container is used and this is connected with the substratum by a moisture intaking system. A regulator is influenced by the water level in the container via a sensor, which consists of a set of electrodes. The sensor is in a container connected with the porous, absorptive substrate via a circumferentially closed channel filled with a moisture absorbing system and connected with the container below the bottom position of the sensor.
