Abstract

L'invention concerne la production de verre fondu. On enlève les borates et/ou fluorures volatils des gaz chauds provenant d'un four de production de verre fondu en faisant passer ces gaz à travers une couche de pastilles humides contenant des ions d'un métal alcalin ou alcalino-ferreux. Les pastilles peuvent contenir des borates et/ou fluorures pour l'alimentation du four à verre et absorber encore des matières volatiles des gaz tant que les borates et/ou fluorures des pastilles sont moins solubles et moins volatils que les matières volatiles des gaz. Le procède est applicable à un appareillage comportant un four chauffé par du gaz naturel ou électriquement, dont il améliore le bilan thermique.
