Abstract

Remote control device involving tensile reaction between a continuous cord and a hose sheet involves use of a flexible monofilament cord, pref. of polyamide, running in a metallic or non-metallic (pref. polyamide) sheath. Device is esp. suitable for vehicle accelerator cables, etc. where a damped response to cable tension is required, because the elastic extensibility of the filament can obviate need for an ancillary mechanical damping device, esp. if non-linear spring characteristics are reqd. Arrangement involves less lubrication and lower levels of friction and rates of wear than use of flexible metal wires in metal sheaths.
