Abstract

The saddle piece (1) is used to make a T-connection between the main pipe (2) and the branch pipe (3). The saddle piece has a tubular section (5) joined a portion (4) forming part of a cylinder which is a spring fit on the pipe. The saddle is brazed to the pipe (2) and a hole (7) is then made which is aligned with the bore of the tubular section (5). The pipe (3) is then brazed in the bore of the section (5). Alternatively a coupling nut can be fitted to saddle (1) and retained by a flange formed on the tubular section (5). This type of pipe joint eliminates the need of cutting a section out of the pipe (2) to fit a screwed T piece.
